Food

While the concept of “farm to table” eating has only recently become a trend worldwide, it has defined this region for centuries. From the very first steps of production of meats, cheeses, olive oils, breads and produce, painstaking care and strict food production guidelines are a part of the culture. This meticulous care has been passed down to the newest generation of cooks, chefs, and craftsmen, who will prepare tastes you have only previously imagined. Below is a sampling of the food and dining options we can help you discover during your stay.

La Pergola

Located in the beautiful countryside of Gesualdo, chef Franca De Filippis and her husband Antonio Ferrante have created an unforgettable experience that artfully combines traditional recipes with modern techniques. Franca, who trained as an architect, gets her inspiration from the simplicity of her grandmothers’ recipes that define the spirit of this region. Her emphasis on Gesualdo's specialties of celery (accio in local dialect), and baccalá, a regional fish specialty, define sustainable, local eating and a dedication to providing meals that exude the flavors of Gesualdo.

Bar Trattoria Da Peppino

Not to be overlooked is the family run trattoria in Gesualdo that brings to life recipes that have been handed down through generations. For traditional foods with amazing tastes, this is the closest you will get to a home cooked meal outside of your nonna actually doing cooking. We love the spaghetti antica.
